Havre De Grace, MD--
By the time some of the players hit the clubhouse today the feeling was glad that the day was done. With the course temperatures hitting almost 106 degrees, many of the players could feel their game slipping before them, one of those was leader Lorena Ochoa, who could not find a way to better her score of 10 under yesterday to maintain a lead.
"I'm just glad I have a chance tomorrow," said Ochoa.
Ochoa who said she played her way right into the thick of things for the final round tomorrow said that heat could once again be a factor on the final scores of the day.
"It is going to be very challenging again tomorrow. This is a great course and I feel very comfortable about what I am able to do tomorrow," said Ochoa.
While others watched as Ochoa struggled it was Jee Young Lee played her final four holes in 4-under par and surged into the lead with a 7-under 65, putting her one shot ahead of Maria Hjorth, who also had shot 65.
Tomorrow's final round features threesomes as the fog that delayed the start of today's round did not want to be repeated by the LPGA, so they opted for these pairings which kept both Annika Sorenstam and Ochoa from playing together.
"I would have probably liked to have played with Annika," Ochoa said. "I think it would have been fun for us and for all of you. But it's OK. It's better when they know what I have done. That will be important, to get a good start and to put my name up there. And they can stay with the pressure in the last group."
Sorenstam who knows how to get things done in the majors comes into tomorrow's final round tied for third with Ochoa at 10-under.
"Everybody is looking forward to tomorrow and everybody wants it badly," Sorenstam said. "The one that wins is the one that stays cool, stays patient and makes less mistakes. So that's going to be my plan."
